Description
Ko Tupaia te tangata kaiwhakatere.
Tupaia the navigator.

Black feather with red edging and white plumes attached at the bottom. Tail feathers from the red-tailed tropicbird or white pelagian were highly prized by early seafaring ancestors. The long red tail-feathers and breast plumes were arranged together and worn as head decoration.
