Te kanohi o Tamapahore.
The face of Tamapahore.

A male carving, painted rust red and black with white nostrils, head position only. This koruru comes from the Tamapahore meeting house which was located at Karikari Point, five miles from Mauao. At the time it was placed in the collection in 1969, it was described as over 100 years old. Acknowledgements to the Tamapahore Marae Komiti. Note other pieces from the wharenui include door lintel and posts (1811/85 ), wall panels (1794/85, 1795/85), amo (1793/85), front cross barge boards and several incomplete pieces ( poupou, wall panels ).
