Description

A clear glass jar with grey-coloured ash from the 1886 Tarawera eruption. The jar is sealed with a yellow-painted metal screw-top lid. On the side of the vessel is an off-white label with blue handwriting which reads "ERUPTION DUST COLLECTED / FROM A ROOF IN TAURANGA / JUNE 10 1886. / MT TARAWERA".
