Description
A set of four WW2 miniature medals. All four attached to metal piece with pin on the back to attach to uniform which is 66mm in length. The first medal is a gold coloured star called the '1939 - 45 Star'. The star has six points. At the bottom of the top point is the crown. In the middle of the Star embossed is 'G R I VI'. Around the outside of the middle is stamped. It is attached to the pin by a dark blue, dark red, light blue striped ribbon. The second medal is a Star with six points. At the bottom of the top point is the Crown. In the middle 'G R I VI' is stamped. Around the outside of the middle is 'The Africa Star', it is attached by a faded orange ribbon with a thin dark blue, light blue stripe and a thicker red stripe in the middle. The third medal is round, silver with George VI's head pressed in the middle. Around the outside is " Georgivs VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX : F : D : IND : IMP" on the front. On the back is a coat of arms, including two Lions either side of a Crown and Thistles, standing. 1939 is one side of the lion and 1945 on the other lion. It is attached by a green ribbon with thin black stripes either side of a thick orange stripe. On the bottom is "The Defence Medal". The fourth medal is a silver coloured, round medal. In the middle is King George's head wearing a Crown. Around the outside of his head stamped on is "Georgivs VI : D : G : BR : OMN : REX ET INDIAE IMP. On the back of the medal there is a lion on top of some other animal with 1939/1945 at the top. It is attached with a red, white and blue striped ribbon. Red at either side, then blue, thin white stripe wit a thin red stripe.
