Description
A cape made of black lace which is lined with black satin. The centre front opening incorporates two satin-backed lace lappets running from the centre front over the shoulders and forms a tail at the back. The sides are formed by open lace.

The cape belonged to Sarah Maude Muir nee Allely. Mrs Muir was one of the early teachers at Greerton School, and was the daughter of early Tauranga settlers who arrived under George Vesey Stewart's settlement scheme. The parents were Sarah and Thomas Allely.
