Description
A flight helmet that was originally issued to Bill Morland (Tauranga) who was a Compulsory Military Trainee in the early 1950s. It is a modified Tiger Moth helmet fitted with the communications mouth mask and lead. Bill Morland gave the helmet to Paul Harrison in the early 1970s and he used on Search and Rescue flights around the South Island. Harrison was born in Tauranga and had a long career in the Air Force. He has written several books on RNZAF history.
