Object detail

Description
A string style size 14 bikini. Yellow, orange and black in colour. The pattern of horizontal lines is evocative of a beach or desert. The top has two triangular pieces of fabric attached to strings with piping around the edges. All strings and piping are10mm wide. Two sets of string on top, around neck and back. The bikini bottom is one piece of fabric that has strings which tie around each side of the hips.

Expozay was established in Tauranga by Tony and Judy Alvos in 1976. The business idea was born when Judy, who was importing swimwear, began experimenting and producing her own garments to sell. Early Expozay bikinis were screen-printed with black outlines and then airbrushed with colour detail.
