Description
A rectangular side table made of kauri with four simple tapered legs. All surfaces decorated with block cut hand carving. All surfaces except for the centre of the top finished with what is probably a black coloured shellac based varnish. It is likely that this is not original and the original surface finish is more likely to be what still remains in the centre decoration - an array of six leaf petalled leaf design in a circle. Construction details: Dowelled joints on legs and top screwed on to table base from underneath. Hand carved New Zealand piece. Excellent example of block cutting/home craft movement.
