Written by Mrs Kath Wilcock, 21/7/04 - "The Mount Maunganui Townswomen's Guild was wound up in 1999. Because of the difficulty in finding a President, Secretary and Treasurer. Shortly after the New Zealand National Federation was also wound up for similar reasons. The Townswomen's Guild was a non-political and non-denominational organisation but usually had a representative as a visitor to local council meetings."
