Description
Four pieces of a tea set made by Lancasters Ltd.
/1 - Jug. Possibly used for hot water. Cream glazing which has yellowed, with orange handle and trim top and base edges. Glaze design includes circles, stylised foliage and an orange 'pumpkin' and spiral shape. The handle is angular in shape as is the pouring spout which sits at the top of the jug. The lid has an orange bumpy knob centre top and a continuation of the circle pattern. There is a small hole in the lid. Makers mark and '646' on base.
/2 - Teapot. Cream glazing, which has yellowed, with orange handle and trim top, base and spout edges. Glaze design includes circles, stylised foliage and an orange 'pumpkin' and spiral shape. The handle is angular in shape. The pouring spout is centred down the side of the pot and is slightly curved. The lid has an orange bumpy knob centre top and a continuation of the circular pattern. There is a small hole in the lid. Makers mark and green writing appear on base.
/3 - Plate. Plate has circular inserts which give it a figure of eight design. Inserts take parts /1 and /2 and it would appear that the plate is used to carry and present, teapot and jug. Cream glazing has yellowed. Lip of plate has orange glaze on inner and outer edges. On the lip there are the circle, stylised foliage, 'pumpkin' and spiral designs. Makers mark and green writing 'L41' appear on base.
/4 Teapot - A square shaped teapot on round base with cream glazing, which has yellowed. The handle is rectangular in shape and orange. Orange trim appears at the top, base and spout edges. Glaze design includes circles, stylised foliage and an orange 'pumpkin' and spiral shape. The pouring spout is curved and centred at the base of the pot. The lid has an orange triangular knob centre top and a continuation of the circular pattern. There is a small hole in the lid. Makers mark and green writing 'L46' appear on base.
