Description
A Book of Common Prayer with black leather cover imprinted with 'St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, Rev Lewin Tugwell, M. A. Rector, Henry Youngsman, William Darnell, Churchwardens, John Elleworthy, Abrm Dixon Steel, Sidemen 1866'. First page inside reads 'The book of Common Prayer and Administration of Sacraments, Other rites and ceremonies of the Church'. Pages edged With gold gilt. Parts /1-/4 found folded amongst pages.
/1 - Newspaper clippings - Two clippings "Princess Ena's Conversion" and "Royal Bethrothal" (Princess Patricia to Italian Prince). Found between pages headed Private Baptism of Children and Private Baptism of Infants'.
/2 - Order of Service - 'Parish Church Bermondsey', A short service to be used on the last night of the old year'. Includes hyms and prayer. Printed at bottom on both sides, 'NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY'.
/3 - Newspaper clipping - Two poems, 'The ocean an evidence of devine benvolence', John Graham, Cape May, 31 July 1879' and 'On the Eddystone' Marlanne Farningham.
/5 - Choir List - Dated 21st March 1897. Printed in red ink. Handwriting fills in date. Psalm for the day. Anthem or Hyms. List is published by Wm Reeves, Musical Standard, Fleet St, London. Found at start of the 'Table of the constitutions and canons ecclesiastical.
