Description
A cream-yellow t-shirt with blue and red circular transfer centre front, reading 'Halley's, it came, we saw, we drank'. A comet is represented in the centre of the logo. Tag at neck reads 'National, Fifty-fifty, Heavyweight, 50% Cotton, 50% Polyester, Made in USA, L'. Reverse reads 'Machine washable, cold water, No bleach, Tumble Dry, Gentle".

Belonged to Dr Frank Bateson, founder and director of the Royal Astronomical Society's Variable Star Section. Established Mt. John Observatory of Canterbury University. Lived in Tauranga for over 50 years, Pooles Rd Greerton. Believed to be worn on a cruize of Tauranga Harbour to view Hayley's Comet. Dr Bateson was the guide.
