Description
An unmounted vernacular print showing a two storey building with neo classical facade and parapet. Much plainer building at rear of facade. Two cars parked in street, one a Vanguard and two small trucks. Handwritten on reverse "Old Opera House, Harrington Street [sic]".

This building was demolished in May 1967. "Old Buidings Go. No more billiards in the old saloon, no more large portions of golden fish and chips from Pete's "Ship's Tavern" opposite the Tauranga Hotel in Harrington Street [sic]. The buildings are being demolished to make way for a drive-in wholesale bottle store. But for those who still want Pete's fabulous fish, we hear he is now in business in Greerton."
