Description
Unmounted postcard showing a view south along The Strand from Monmouth Redoubt, Tauanga. Shows Victoria Wharf with rails (it was the stock wharf) and the Town Wharf including the wharf office building. The concrete sea wall constructed by Joseph Brain protects the now widened Strand. Includes shops and buildings from the Tauranga Hotel to the Triangle on The Strand. The Strand in the immediate foreground is unformed. Norris & Bell's building at the Triangle is shown and above it large houses on the seaward side of Devonport Road. Handwritten in pencil on reverse "The Strand and waterfront".
