Description
An unmounted vernacular print showing a two storey house with two chimneys. Fire escape around second level. The firewall dividing the building can be seen on the roof and down the wall. This property was known as Wharepai Hotel and was at one time owned by the Asher family. Asher Asher was the first of the family to settle in Tauranga. His son David Asher was proprietor of the Tauranga Hotel from 1891 to 1904 and lived in one half of Wharepai.
