Description
An unmounted print showing a memorial at Mission Cemetery, Tauranga. The memorial is on a square concrete plinth. Inscribed on one face 'In Memory of the following Officers, Non Commissioned Oficers, Buglers, & Privates of the 43rd Light Infantry who were killed or died of wounds received April 26th 1864 at the attack on the Gate Pa. Lieut General J P Booth. Capt Robert C Glover. Capt Charles R Mure. Capt Robert T F Hamilton. Capt Edwin Utterton. Lieut. Frederick G E Glover. Ensign Charles J Langlands.' There is a wooden cross and a picket fence with cabbage trees growing outside the memorial area. Handwritten on the image in ink "Soldiers Monument in Old Cemetery Tauranga". Handwritten on reverse "Lent by Chas. A. Crabbe Cameron Road Tauranga".
