Description
An unmounted velox vernacular print showing a policeman in uniform with summer white helmet standing near Tauranga railway station in The Strand. Crowd near railway line and several men standing with the policeman. On reverse in pencil "Policeman Skinner?' Arthur Skinner was a policeman in Tauranga from 1909 until retirement in 1935. It is possible that that this photograph was taken in the aftermath of the the Tauranga Hotel in fire in 1936 which would suggest that it isn't Arthur Skinner. More research is required.
