Description
An unmounted postcard format print showing a view of the Public Works Camp on flat land below The Elms, Tauranga. Likely to be at the time the P.W.D. was constructing the railway line along The Strand. About a dozen huts built of timber from ground up for a metre [approx] and then canvas. Gable style with canvas on roof tied down. Sulphur works and Sulphur Point beyond with Mauao in the background. Handwritten on reverse "public works settlement".
