Description
Unmounted postcard format print showing a view of a street corner with large shop sign written "Tailoring Clothing Mercery Footwear Tailoring" on facade, and "Carter & Co" on verandah. First shop up Devonport Road is a barber [striped verandah pole] then Bell Tearooms, and following one Norris & Bell Landagents. Early model bus parked on corner with driver standing alongside. Signwritten "New Zealand Herald agency, Book Club writing room. Stationery Depot. The Strand." Handwritten on reverse "Corner the Strand Tauranga 1920-1921". See page 253 of the 1882-1982 Bellamy book for very similar image. Recorded underneath is "A Ford Model T bus as used by Mr W Herbert on the first motor omnibus service in urban Tauranga".
