A coloured image of The Strand Gardens from Masonic Hotel back to the Triangle where Devonport Road meets The Strand. Palms are growing in the street beyond footpath. Late 1930s model cars parked in street. Handwritten on reverse 'Jim with best wishes from Mum & Dad Xmas 1940'.
Alf Rendell remembers taking this photograph from a step ladder and waiting until the clouds were right. It was hand tinted by Alf's sister Marje, who was very talented at this process.
