Description
A large format unmounted black and white print of a weatherboard house known as 'Woodhill'. Corrugated iron roof and two brick chimneys. House is one story with high gabled roof. Two storied part on left is remainder of original tower with a further storey. The timber details are elaborate with an Italianate window with embrazures and cappings; heads of sashes are filled with Gothic elliptical sash bars, peirced gable boards and finials.The verandar is divided into bays with elliptical heads and pierced spandrillsk with shaped corbals. Registered with NZHPT Category 2 building.

Woodhill was designed by Irish architect Fitzgibbon Louch, and built by David Lundon for Henry Stainforth Brabant when the latter's family outgrew Mangawhare (0114/10). Originally is was on a farm. Currently (2020) owned by Legacy Trust and operates as a funeral director's premises. Handwritten on reverse 'Photograph taken and donated by R D Hyde.'
