Description
A photograph album containing 43 photographs on 23 pages. The green buckram cover is embossed with gold writing which reads "Presented to Capt. F.T. Mee. S.S. "Clan Ross" by the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce, May 1911". Mary Humphreys is identified as one of the photographers.

"Later in the evening Mr G. Arnold Ward, President of the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the business community, welcomed Captain Mee and the ship’s company of the Clan Ross to Tauranga. The Clan Ross was the biggest steamer that had yet visited the port. He pointed out that the Chamber of Commerce had been and was still very keen in its desire to see a harbour board formed. On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and commercial community he welcomed Captain Mee and said it was the Chamber’s intention to present him with a slight souvenir of his visit, consisting of views of the Tauranga district framed in locally grown timber. Unfortunately, the momento was not ready, but he would have pleasure in duly forwarding it to Captain Mee." 26 May 1911, 'Bay of Plenty Times'.
