Dear Mr Adams,
I will duly report about the arrival of your present with the special reminder on the rug – the letter telling me of it had so many kind wishes – I just put: as I said, yr good photo of 9/8/1928 on special view - I read the latest cables today, 27th, - Tomorrow I will see letters that are “timed” for my day – I met Capt. Donne, busy on a new Book – Fancy. It is quite cold today again – I wanted to get chest all right – “Polynesian Journal” came. I did not see Joyces name – Donnes was in, but no C.M.G. to name – Oldman I hear has quite a Museum of NZd – he will not part with any & is a collector nowadays – glad you got his name in, most deserving – I told you of a “Pounamu” 40/- Wellington – Sir J. Parr gave £5.10 for copy Moko here for Library – That art has passed away – Cooks first Maori shot 8 Oct 1769 he noted the designs – I have several portraits of those who fell in1864 TE KANI for one – one of the 68th L1, who became NZd cross was R. SHEPHERD. He used to write me, after he got it as was in my company before he became settler – 1866 – 28th at NZ office got many good wishes. I did Kune the Dominion when young long ago – Donne wrote me nice letter on that, and his wishes – mail goes out Frisco to early tomorrow. I will write again soon, & photo if I can. This is to thank for kind letter
I will report later on the present & its decoration by Miss Adams so thoughtful.
With regards & wishes
