Dear Sis,

I received your welcome letter and pleased to hear you had go Mother away for a spell and the change had done her good.
It ought to be a lot easier for her this season with the machines. Little Iris must have had a good time at the beach she is just about the age now. There was some good news com through to-day. Austria is out of it and left Germany on her own so it ought not to be long before it is over now and I hope to be home with you all before long. Well Sis I won’t be sorry to get out of this country. I won’t want to leave NZ again in a hurry.
A lot of our boys have been down with Malaria nearly all that went through the last push. I suppose you have seen in the papers where a lot have died pretty hard luck when it is nearly over.
I am getting on fine now and hope to get out of this in a few days. A fortnight in the NZ Convalescent Home will put me right they say the food is good there five meals a day. I don’t know what they are going to do with us now. I think it will be home if they can get the boats. I don’t think Germany will be long now before she follows Austria and Turkey. My word they gave Turkey a smack this last time prisoners were coming in by the hundred. I think it was 80 000 that was taken. Our Brigade took about 5000. I don’t suppose they send any more men from NZ. I don’t suppose many 2nd Division men have left yet.
I will close this now. Hoping to be home with you all soon.

With love to all
From your loving Brother

Frank
