Description
A brown leather fidora hat with a black band that has a bow with three small brown, black and white feathers tucked into it. There is visible stictching around the hat brim. Inside the hat is a strip of tan leather with a small brown bow at the back. Printed in gold text is the makers details 'W O'Shannessy Katikati' and on the opposite side 'Battersby London styled'. There is also a black fabric label on the inside top of the hat also a black fabric label on the inside-top of the hat also in gold reading 'Battersby London Styled' with a lion symbol and linear gold frame.
Hat belonged to John Donald Macmillan (known as Don), son of Robert John Cumming Macmillan, son of Donald Macmillan. Purchased from Katikati in mid 1940s. Hat was worn by Don to special occasions.
