Description
A navy coloured blazer with patch on pocket that reads 'Tauranga 20,000 Club'. Two silver button front, one silver small button on each sleeve. Three pockets. One right front inner pocket, black lining, cream lining in sleeve.
The 20,000 Club was formed in Tauranga shortly after World War Two. It was a community organisation with the aim of raising funds for public facilites. The '20,000' referred to the population needed for the Tauranga Borough to claim city status. The Club contributed towards a number of projects including the Soundshell at Memorial Park which was erected late 1952.
