Description
Wooden masons mallet that has a handle attached to a thick round base. Used by Lord H. E. Ranfurly when laying the foundation block of St George's Church on the site of the Battle of Pukehinahina, Gate Pa, 10 February 1901. The mallet was made from pear wood from a pear tree that grew on the site.
