Description
Carved wooden walking stick with carved figures on the handle end. One figure holds a mere in right hand and has a tā moko on face. Carved knotch pakati and haehae on body and legs. Eyes are pearl shell inlay. Reverse figure has carved tongue. Three fingered hands are held in front of body with fingers facing one another. Stick gently tapers to end. The ancestral figure at the top usually represents the matriarch of the whānau or hapū.
