Taught in the use of traditional weapons.

Short striking weapon made from whalebone with a face carved on both sides. The eyes are pearl like and the bottom of the handle is carved and has a drilled hole for rope to be attached. The kotiate was a prized weapon and was favoured by chiefs when speech-making.
