Object detail

Description
A colour slide of linesmen working on power lines. There are three poles with men working at the top, apparently having accessed their position by climbing tall orange ladders. The corner pole has five men working and there is a crane on a yellow vehicle located beside the pole. Three other work trucks are in the image. A man and two children appear to be viewing proceedings from inside the fence of a villa with a green corrugated iron roof. A coil of steel wire sits on the grass curb. Recorded by the photographer as ‘Power line alterations – Cambridge Road corner.’

The Tauranga Heritage Collection has more than 2000 photographic slides taken by Robert Gale. Robert and his family moved to Tauranga in the early 1960s and he taught at Merivale School until retirement. Robert was a member of the Tauranga Photographic Society for many years.
