Description
A colour slide showing a group of children in costume. The Star Hotel is visible in the background. The event was in the area known as ‘The Triangle’ which was where Devonport Road, Spring Street and The Strand met. The event has been identified as part of Tauranga Orange Festival which took place annually in August. Recorded by photographer as ‘Children’s fancy dress’.
The Tauranga Heritage Collection has more than 2000 photographic slides taken by Robert Gale. Robert and his family moved to Tauranga in the early 1960s and he taught at Merivale School until retirement. Robert was a member of the Tauranga Photographic Society for many years.
