Description
A colour slide showing people on a wharf walking towards a ship with sailors onboard. Recorded by photographer as ‘HMNZS Pukaki’. "New Zealand navy's anti-submarine frigate Pukaki and fishery protection vessels Paea, Mako, Haku and Manga paid a visit to Tauranga during the Gate Pa centenary celebrations. The object of much local interest, they formed the largest naval force to visit the port since the battle. Several parties of school children were escorted on a tour of the frigate during the week." Tauranga Photo News, 30 May 1964
