Description
A colour slide showing a man with a leather apron and holding a hammer standing outside a building which looks like a barn. The man is identified as Charlie Haua who was a very well-known blacksmith. Charlie had a blacksmith shop in Grey Street. Recorded by the photographer as ‘Smithy Grey Street, C. Haua’.

The Tauranga Heritage Collection has more than 2000 photographic slides taken by Robert Gale. Robert and his family moved to Tauranga in the early 1960s and he taught at Merivale School until retirement. Robert was a member of the Tauranga Photographic Society for many years.
