Description
A colour slide showing a Tauranga harbour view with Mauao visible in the distance. Also visible is the rail line along The Strand, reclaimed waterfront for parking with two wharves. Dive Crescent disappears into the trees at the Mission Cemetery. In the foreground are roofs of buildings along Devonport Road. Recorded by the photographer as ‘Harbour view from top of Elizabeth Street Flats.’
The Tauranga Heritage Collection has more than 2000 photographic slides taken by Robert Gale. Robert and his family moved to Tauranga in the early 1960s and he taught at Merivale School until retirement. Robert was a member of the Tauranga Photographic Society for many years.
