Description
Black morocco leather purse with flap that folds over and domes into silver metal hardware. Four compartments.

Donated to the collection by Violet Simons (nee Crabbe). Mrs Simons was passionate about Tauranga history and was stalwart of the Tauranga Historical Society. Her grandfather, George Alfred Crabbe, arrived in Tauranga in 1864 and participated in the battle at Te Ranga. The family settled in Tauranga and in 1877 established a grocery and drapery store on the corner of Cameron Road and Seventh Avenue. Mrs Simons’ father, Charles Crabbe, took over the store in 1900 and it continued to trade for many years.
