Description
A colour slide showing a man, who has been identified as J. Gurmey, wearing a costume that was "designed to poke fun at brewers from Waihi's prohibition days". He is standing in a street and is holding a glass. A police man is standing behind a Morris Minor. Recorded by the photographer as 'Barrel man, Waihi'. "We offer our congratulations to the citizens of Waihi who, at the beginning of the month, celebrated their diamond jubilee ... the climax of the festivities, a parade of 40 floats which encouraged a larger crowd of sightseers than any previous function held in the town." Tauranga Photo News, 15 December 1962
