Description
A black and white slide showing a vintage car on a road. Sign on car reads 'Overland 1917'. The location is identified as Cameron Road, Tauranga. Recorded by the photographer as 'Cavalcade of Transport - Overland'. This car belonged to Max and Robin Avery. This event was called a 'Cavalcade of Transport' and was part of the celebrations connected to Tauranga becoming a city in 1963. "A unique parade of transport through the last fifty years was staged to coincide with the historical exhibition at Tauranga Town Hall. The cars proceeded along Cameron Road from the racecourse and parked for an hour in Wharf Street where crowds of spectators were able to inspect the many interesting and valuable vehicles." Tauranga Photo News, 7 December 1963.
