Slide, Matahina Dam
A colour slide looking over a quarry like scene with buildings and machinery visible. Recorded by the photographer as 'Matahina dam construction'. "The Ministry of Works Matahina Power Project on the Rangitaiki River, 6 miles upstream from Te Teko. The dam, which should be adding its power of 70,000KW to the national grid by 1967, will have a maximum height of 260 feet to contain a 200 feet head of water. Its crest length of 1300 feet will contain 51/2 million cubic yards of material and being an earth dam will have a core of weathered greywacke obtained from the local ranges".
