Description
A colour slide showing vehicles travelling along a road which may be Cameron Road. The front "vehicle" is a fire hose reel being pulled by two firemen. People are watching from the side of the road. This event was called a 'Cavalcade of Transport' and was part of the celebrations connected to Tauranga becoming a city in 1963. "A unique parade of transport through the last fifty years was staged to coincide with the historical exhibition at Tauranga Town Hall. The cars proceeded along Cameron Road from the racecourse and parked for an hour in Wharf Street where crowds of spectators were able to inspect the many interesting and valuable vehicles."
