Description
A sepia print showing people on a beach and in the water. The occasion has been identified as a railway excursion at Mt Maunganui in 1935. This was an annual event with railway employees brought from Hamilton by special train for the day. This view is taken from Moturiki looking north west and including part of Mauao. The Oceanside Hotel is visible and four house/baches along the dunes above the beach. Cars are parked in front of the hotel. The plantation of trees “The Horseshoe” is on the lower slope of Mauao. “Bell Bros Hamilton” stamped on reverse.
