Description
Pre 1920 white weatherboard house located at 40 Fifth Avenue. Home of Captain Karl Christiansen (Norwegian sea captain) and his wife. Karl became a prominent builder in Tauranga. Also, home to Mrs Jean McCafferty in 1990s. The home was removed and in 2001 it became 5th Avenue Family Medical Practice (extant 2021).
One of seventy photographs of buildings within the Te Papa Peninsula taken by Lyn Harpham in 1995 and 1999. Lyn Harpham was a historian and recipient of the Tauranga Heritage Award. Accompanying the images are handwritten notes made by Lyn and a brochure printed as a guide to a bus tour of the homes conducted by Lyn on 4 December 1995.
