A vernacular sepia print showing a view of a covered outdoor workshop with boat taking shape. Annotation reads 'The window indicates a small room in the corner of the workshop that was David's bedroom.'

One of eighty-five photographic copy prints showing the construction of a boat identified as 'Lady Karen'. The photographs were taken by David Murrell who lived with boat builder Willie Oliver and his family in Judea, Tauranga, in 1956-1957. The annotations that accompany the images were made by John Oliver and David Murrell in 2013 and were compiled by Anne Murrell. The 'Lady Karen' was a single skin, kauri planked launch. 38/39ft in length. 11ft 6ins beam.
