A vernacular sepia print showing a boat on the water identified as Tauranga Harbour. Annotation reads 'First run on Tauranga Harbour. (The floating debris is blocks that held the launch on the cradle.'

One of eighty-five photographic copy prints showing the construction of a boat identified as 'Lady Karen'. The photographs were taken by David Murrell who lived with boat builder Willie Oliver and his family in Judea, Tauranga, in 1956-1957. The annotations that accompany the images were made by John Oliver and David Murrell in 2013 and were compiled by Anne Murrell. The 'Lady Karen' was a single skin, kauri planked launch. 38/39ft in length. 11ft 6ins beam.
