Description
A full length nylon dress lined with orange taffeta. The nylon has a black background with pink roses and daisies over it. The skirt is slightly gathered at the waist. The bodice has a bandeau insert front and back with scooped ruffled neckline that is higher at the back. The sleeves are unlined with elastic forming ruffle at the wrist. A long zip at the back.

This dress was worn by Murielle Kaye (nee Hamilton) (1930-2021). Murielle was born in New Plymouth and in 1964 settled in Tauranga with her husband Jim and three young children. Murielle was very interested in fashion and dressed carefully. She was employed by ‘Sugar and Spice’ clothing manufacturers in Cameron Road and by Lindsay’s Fashions, which was in the Red Square, Spring Street, Tauranga. Every week Murielle purchased the Woman’s Weekly and the magazine was a source of inspiration for the clothing she sewed for her family and herself.
