Description
A princess line dress made of nylon fabric which has an all over abstract pattern of orange, blues and grey. The dress is lined with purple taffeta. It falls from under the bust and there is a flounce at the hemline. The dress also has a scooped neckline with flounce. The short sleeves are unlined and give a cape effect. Zip at back.
This dress was worn by Murielle Kaye (nee Hamilton) (1930-2021). Murielle was born in New Plymouth and in 1964 settled in Tauranga with her husband Jim and three young children. Murielle was very interested in fashion and dressed carefully. She was employed by ‘Sugar and Spice’ clothing manufacturers in Cameron Road and by Lindsay’s Fashions, which was in the Red Square, Spring Street, Tauranga. Every week Murielle purchased the Woman’s Weekly and the magazine was a source of inspiration for the clothing she sewed for her family and herself.
