Description
A black and white photograph of St. George’s Church, Gate Pa, Tauranga at Easter, 15 April 1955. This was the venue for the marriage of Mary and Laurie Hampshire on this date. The image was taken from Cameron Road. The building on the left is the original church hall. The building at the rear came from The Camp, the area at the north end of Te Papa, as growth of the congregation meant there was a need for more space. The hall from the 1930s is still at the Church. At this time there were major changes to the roads with Cameron Road being widened (destroying some of the Battle of Pukehinahina site).
