Description
A view of a pile of boards and a worker standing dismantling several wooden sections. One of a series of twenty-two black and white photographs that document the dismantling of the Matapihi Church, which was connected to Ngāi Te Rangi warrior, farmer and orator, Hōri Ngātai. The dismantling was undertaken by Mount Maunganui Jaycee members. It was originally intended that the church would be moved to the Tauranga Historic Village and District Museum, however, documentation shows that the condition of the church was poor and it was determined it could not be saved.
