An ornate, white metal, South African Army Prince Alfred's Guard helmet badge. The plate features a central Royal Arms encircled by a belt showing the motto of the Order of the Garter "Honi soit qui mal y pense." or "shame be to him who thinks evil of it". Extending up from a three-piece scroll that reads "Prince Alfred's Guard" and a A&A cypher, are a laurel and an oak branch which meet in the middle at the top where another symbol of the United Kingdom Royal of Arms - a crowned lion on a crown.
