Description
A rectangular wooden frame with rotating handle and eight sided cog attached to an axle. The cog interacts with a wooden tongue when turned to make a loud clicking noise. Instruments such as these have had a variety of uses including as a warning for gas during the First World War. Provenance recorded at the time of donation reads 'Gas alarm type used in World War One.'
